Independent certification confirms the AI behind GenIA-L is governed, risk-managed and continually improved, giving UK accountants, bookkeepers and SMEs more reason to trust the answers they get.
We're pleased to announce that the management system behind GenIA-L, our AI assistant, has been awarded ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification by the BSI. The certification covers GenIA-L across France, Belgium, Italy and the UK, where it's available to Indicator users.
ISO/IEC 42001 is the first certifiable international standard written specifically for AI management systems. To achieve it, an organisation has to show that it has a responsible AI governance framework in place, that it identifies and controls the risks and impacts of its AI, and that it runs a continuous improvement process covering the whole lifecycle of its AI systems, from design and development through to deployment and monitoring.
What this means for GenIA-L users
For a lot of professionals, the question about AI isn't whether it can help but whether they can rely on it. ISO/IEC 42001 certification gives you independent assurance on that point:
- Governed, not improvised. GenIA-L runs within a formal AI management framework, with clear accountability for how it's built, tested and changed.
- Risks actively managed. Potential issues such as inaccurate output, misuse or unintended impacts are identified, assessed and controlled as a matter of process.
- Always improving. The standard requires ongoing monitoring and improvement, so GenIA-L is reviewed and refined over time rather than "set and forget".
- Externally verified. These commitments have been audited by the BSI, one of the world's leading standards bodies, rather than simply claimed by us.
Built on content you already trust
GenIA-L relies exclusively on verified legal and tax content from our own proprietary library. So GenIA-L doesn't search the open web or guess. It answers from a curated, editorially controlled body of knowledge, which makes its answers easier to check and safer to rely on in client work.
Part of a wider commitment
GenIA-L is now used by around 100,000 professionals across Europe. This certification is further proof of the Lefebvre Group's commitment to responsible AI for legal and accounting professionals, and it builds on the editorial standards Indicator subscribers have relied on for years.
"Our customers tell us that trust and security are the deciding factors when they consider using AI in their work. ISO/IEC 42001 certification gives them independent evidence that GenIA-L is designed, managed and monitored responsibly, and that it's grounded in expert content they already know. It's an important milestone for us and, more importantly, for the professionals who rely on us."
